The Faith Community of Saints Joachim and Anne is establishing a new ministry to serve our community. Beginning this November the Office for Pastoral Care and Social Outreach will be led by Jan Kunkel. For the past 12 years Jan has served as the Parish Secretary and we are all grateful for her dedication and service. As the needs of our Parish are continuing to change and grow, the need for a dedicated minister to guide the Pastoral Care and Social Outreach of community has become more evident. After prayerful consideration and discussion, Jan has accepted to begin this new ministry. Pastoral Care and Social Outreach provides leadership in educating members of the faith community to understand the Church’s mission and in particular the relationship of the social teaching of the Church to that mission. Helping parishioners identify the parish mission territory and equip volunteers to respond to those in need in the parish and community that make up that territory. Becoming a catalyst for enlivening parishioners to address the root causes of those needs and respond in appropriate ways. In collaboration with the clergy team, parish staff, ministries and organization become a united effort related to diversity, ethnic traditions, homebound, as well as the support of families burdened with terminal illness, the loss of a loved one, disability and persons with special needs. Together we pray for the guidance to better serve the needs of the People Of God. As we transition, all administrative responsibilities will be handled by Jeannie Premozic, Business Manager & Safe Environment and Amy Megahan, Secretary.

The Disciple Maker Index Survey Results are Coming: As you recall, the Disciple Maker Index Survey closed on March 31, 2023, and due to the great volume of information gathered, all of our parish leaders have been and continue to review the results. In next week’s bulletin, you will see a one-page parish summary report that will provide information such as: • How many parishioners completed the survey and the overall response rate; • Key parish strengths and opportunities for growth; • Summary of key responses. These results will enable parish Envisioning Teams, our pastoral planning leadership body, to begin the work of pastoral planning. The information will be repeated in the bulletin for the next two weeks to reach as many of our parishioners as possible during the summer travel season. In addition, stay tuned for a Diocesan summary report to be released the weekend of August 26/27 that will show a snapshot of the DMI Survey results for the entire Diocese of Pittsburgh.
